Happy Christmas 2016

img_3799Christmas is almost here and thank goodness for that.

After a tempestuous year the festive season has arrived in true 2016 style – heralded by wild storms and lashing rain. The Met Office has issued a severe weather warning for the UK and in this corner of Dorset 50mph winds are battering the coast.

But apart from that, we’re nearly set for Christmas. My husband will be on the Sandbanks Ferry at dawn to collect the turkey (it’s his favourite job because it means he can pop into Le Petit Prince for a coffee and an almond croissant en route). By the way, I love the fact that the ferry has its own Christmas tree, complete with twinkling lights (just visible in my picture).

I’ve wrapped all my presents, my children are doing a sterling job with the cooking and I’m looking forward to listening to A Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols, broadcast live from King’s College, Cambridge on Christmas Eve.

In all the chaos there will be loads of things I’ve forgotten but it’s too late to worry. A huge thank you for reading my blog in 2016 and I wish you a very happy Christmas and brilliant New Year.
